LONG BEACH — A new boutique embracing local, organic, handmade, organic and ethically sourced gifts, personal care items and seasonal home decor has opened on Pacific Avenue.
“I’ve always had a passion for decorating,” said Coastal Empress Boutique owner Virginia Peterson, who celebrated the grand opening of her business, located at 2401 Pacific Ave. N Suite A, in April.
“But I was having a hard time finding USA-made products, and a lot of it’s made in China and not the best quality. I wanted to find local, handmade, unique and quality products to bring to the community.”
The store will stock all-natural and organic soaps and beauty products year-around.
“We carry an all natural and organic hair care line from California and a nail polish from Portland, pretty much everything we carry is organic,” Peterson said.
The inventory includes natural and ethically sourced items, from handmade soaps and bath salts to hot cocoa and chocolate, including Portland-based Moonstruck Chocolate Company and Apolis Tea, based in Sumner.
“I like supporting entrepreneurs, so a lot of the brands in the store are veteran or family owned,” Peterson said.
“Most are women-owned products and companies.”
Among the best selling items so far has been Peterson’s own ‘Lavender Rose’ handmade bath salts, made with Himalayan sea salt, honey powder, oats, coconut powder, lavender buds, rose petals and rose hip essential oil.
