March 10 — There was a report of a mini-bike towing a little trailer in Long Beach, with someone drinking a beer in it, going up and down the street. An officer contacted the occupants, told them to stop and that the bike was not street legal. He also told them they were not allowed to drink in public. No one was actually driving the mini-bike when he contacted them.
March 11 — Officers did a security check of the storage units at Main Street Storage in Ilwaco. A subject was located sleeping in an abandoned vehicle on the south side of the property. He was placed under arrest and transported to the jail, and the property was secured.
March 12 — There was a report of an intoxicated male threatening people inside a bakery in Long Beach. He has some 96 issues, and is triggered by dogs. The customer he was harassing did not want to pursue any charges. Officers told the subject to move on, and not go back inside the bakery. He agreed not to.
A person who lives out of town called to report that someone is dumping garbage on his property. An officer went out and looked at the vacant lot, and it appeared to be a bear getting trash bags, dragging them along the tree line, and getting into them. The officer relayed this to the property owner, who said he would be down around the first of the month to clean it up.
March 13 — There was a report of a possible impaired driver in Long Beach who was nodding off, according to the caller. An officer saw the described vehicle, a green Chevy truck with a tool box in the back. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt, and when the officer pulled up behind the vehicle the truck kept dying. The officer stopped the vehicle, and the driver had a suspended driver’s license, and he did not have an interlock device, as was required. He also had no insurance. The driver was cited.
March 16 — An officer was dispatched to a hit and run in a Long Beach apartment parking lot. The vehicle that left was described as a purple Ram truck. When the officer arrived, he called the reporting party to come down and talk to him. She showed him the video of the pickup backing out, and appearing to hit her left rear quarter panel. She stated she believed the owner of the truck lived in one of the apartments. The officer contacted the driver’s girlfriend, and she called him and he said he would return. Approximately 30 minutes later, the driver returned and said he didn’t know he had hit the vehicle. He provided his ID card, and said he did not have insurance. He said he would pay for her vehicle to be fixed at his uncle’s body shop. The reporting party said she would take the hit on her insurance, and let her insurance take care of the repairs. The suspect driver was cited for hit and run on an unattended vehicle.
There was a non-crash SOS button activated inside a silver Toyota Corolla Cross in Ilwaco. The Toyota Call Center was unable to contact the registered owner. Upon arrival, officers contacted the owner inside the vehicle, which had a temporary dealer license plate. She stated she had just purchased the vehicle, and was programming the car’s features. The officers cleared and left.
Caller reported two white and black dogs running around the street in Ilwaco. Both went toward First Avenue and started to go to the Port before a car almost hit one. The female driver stated she always sees the dog running around. The officer turned around and told them to go home, and they eventually ran back.
