OCEAN PARK and LONG BEACH — State shellfish managers confirmed the latest series of razor clam digs on coastal beaches. Remaining dates in this set of late afternoon/evening (noon to midnight only) low tides:
• March 12, Wednesday, 6:28 p.m.; 0.2 feet; Long Beach, Twin Harbors
• March 13, Thursday, 7 p.m.; 0.4 feet; Long Beach, Twin Harbors
• March 14, Friday, 7:30 p.m.; 0.7 feet; Long Beach, Twin Harbors
Watch for an announcement soon of digs tentatively scheduled for March 26 through April 3, contingent on continuing safe levels of marine toxins.
Peninsula Patriots presents ‘Am I Racist?’

Audition for ‘Into the Woods’
FORT COLUMBIA — Auditions have been announced for “Into the Woods,” the summer musical to be staged by the Peninsula Association of Performing Artists. They will be held 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. March 14, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. March 15 and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. March 17. Cast members of all ages are needed. The Stephen Sondheim musical is based on a blend of fairy stories by the Brothers Grimm. Performances will run five weekends, July 11 through Aug. 10.
Pacific County Historical Society annual meeting
NASELLE — The Annual Meeting of the Pacific County Historical Society will be at Appelo Archive Center in Naselle, 1056 State Route 4, on Sunday, March 16 from 1-3 p.m. This year’s guest speaker is John C. Hughes, chief oral historian for the Washington Office of the Secretary of State. Maximum capacity is 50 and over half of the reserved seating is already filled, so be sure to RSVP if you’d like to attend what is sure to be a wonderful meeting. ‘Ask a Master Gardener’ Plant Clinic and Tool Sharpening
ILWACO — WSU Master Gardeners Foundation of Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties is sponsoring a Plant Clinic and Information Center at the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum in Ilwaco on Saturday, March 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the museum’s Discovery Garden parking lot, 15 SE Lake Street in Ilwaco. Master Gardener Mike Karvia will demonstrate how to sharpen your garden tools. Bring your dull garden tools to the museum café room to learn how to effectively and safely sharpen them. Master gardeners will be there to address your plant questions, concerns, and suggestions. Typical questions include: “How do I place mulch around trees and shrubs?” “My one rhododendron is wilting and dying. What’s wrong?” “Moss is all over my lawn. Register for Seafood Chowder Cookoff
OCEAN PARK — The Surfside Homeowners Association Community Relations Committee is holding a Seafood Chowder Cookoff at noon March 22 at the Oysterville Schoolhouse, 3322 School Road in Ocean Park. Entries are free with preregistration; a minimum of six quarts of chowder per entry needs to be at the schoolhouse by 11:45 a.m. March 22. Taste and vote, from noon to 2 p.m., costs $5 plus a nonperishable food item donation. The awards will follow at 2:15 p.m. The event also includes a raffle, baked goods for sale and music by Bruce Mihalek. All proceeds will go to the Ocean Park Food Bank. State treasurer is Rotary speaker
KLIPSAN — On March 25, Washington State Treasurer, Mike Pellicciotti, will be the guest speaker at the SW Pacific County Peninsula Rotary Club meeting. His presentation is titled State Finances and Long-Term Policy and will focus on work he is leading through his office to improve the financial outlook for state government, local municipalities across Washington, as well as working families and retirees in every corner of the state. The meeting will be at the Peninsula Senior Activity Center, 21603 O Lane, Klipsan Beach, beginning at 5:15 p.m.. Limited seating will be available. Registration underway for annual Hope Floats
LONG BEACH — Registration is underway for artists wishing to take part in the annual Hope Floats event that promotes mental health awareness and raises funds for the advocacy group Peace of Mind Pacific County. Artists should contact Nikki Fortuna at info@pompc.org for information and registration. Decorated floats will be displayed May 10 and 11 in downtown Long Beach with an online auction May 9-20.
Ilwaco Sports Boosters spring run
LONG BEACH — A 5K and 10K run are planned June 14 to raise funds through the Ilwaco Sports Boosters for Ilwaco schools’ cross country program. The runs will begin at the Bolstad Beach approach and conclude with awards at 11:30 a.m. at Veterans Field. People who register by May 16 are guaranteed a T-shirt. Cost of $20. AlAnon meetings on Peninsula and Zoom
AlAnon Family Groups are open to any adult. The only requirement for membership is that there is a concern about problem drinking by a relative or friend.
