I am writing to express my appreciation for the many community members who are engaged with Willapa Harbor Hospital and Medical Clinic to learn about the challenges with the current healthcare facility and share ideas for solutions and resources to ensure the community has a facility many years into the future. I’m also writing to share information about the hospital and clinics and how vital this organization is to the local economy. As a cornerstone of our community, the hospital and clinics provide essential health services and a provide significant economic benefits to the local community.

First and foremost, Willapa Harbor Hospital and Medical Clinic is one of the largest employers in the area. It creates numerous job opportunities by hiring medical professionals, administrative staff, and support personnel. These employment opportunities provide a stable income for many families in the area, contributing to overall economic stability.

Furthermore, the payroll has a ripple effect throughout the local economy. Employees spend their earnings at local businesses, from grocery stores and restaurants to retail shops and service providers. This flow of money helps support small businesses, encouraging a thriving commercial environment and fostering a sense of community.

In addition to direct economic contributions, Willapa Harbor Hospital and Medical Clinic are crucial in attracting new residents to the area. Quality healthcare is a significant factor for families and individuals when deciding where to live. By offering excellent medical services, it makes our community an attractive place for potential new residents, which, in turn, supports local real estate markets and further boosts the local economy.

Moreover, the staff often engage in community outreach and health education programs, improving residents’ overall well-being. A healthier population means reduced healthcare costs and a more productive workforce, both of which are vital for long-term economic growth.

Willapa Harbor Hospital Commissioners recognize the contributions made through property taxes by property owners in North Pacific County and offer tax credits that can be applied toward medical bills for property owners and their dependents every year. The property owner can bring their tax bill to the business office and request the amount of property tax due to Pacific County Hospital District #2 on tax statements be applied to their medical bill for the portion due from the patient after insurance has been billed. Willapa Harbor Hospital and Medical Clinic also offer prompt pay and sliding scale discounts. These are both beneficial to patients and encourage the use of local healthcare services, supporting the community’s vitality.

In conclusion, the community healthcare facility is much more than a healthcare provider; it is a pivotal economic driver that supports local businesses, creates jobs, and attracts new residents. It is in our best interest to support and advocate for a modern healthcare facility to serve our families, friends, and neighbors now and far into the future while recognizing its invaluable contribution to the community’s economic and social fabric.
