Ice, snow storm closing county facilities

PACIFIC COUNTY — With around three inches of snow at lower elevations in north county and a quarter inch of ice on roads countywide, schools released students to go home at midday Thursday, Feb. 13, and county offices are closing Thursday afternoon and will remain closed Friday, Feb. 14.

“At the recommendation of the Board of County Commissioners, a determination has been made to close all public-facing County facilities today [Feb. 13] beginning at 2:30 p.m. due to inclement weather,” the county said in a press release. “This closure will continue through Friday, February 14th.

“This closure shall impact all facilities in South Bend and Long Beach, with the exception of law enforcement, corrections and 911 services.

“In accordance with the County’s Emergency Response Guide, employees will not need to use their annual or sick leave as a result of this closure.”
