If there had been a prize for the cutest person attending the Beach Brawl wrestling tournament in Ilwaco Feb. 1, it would have been won by this little one.

Parents Mikey Rodda and Kali Hood enjoyed showing off little Cody, who was gearing up to celebrate a first birthday Feb. 9.

Rodda was a successful wrestler at Ilwaco High School, finishing fourth at state as a junior, and completing a covid-disrupted 2021 senior season undefeated at 285 pounds. Since graduating, he has helped with coaching.

Hood attended high school in Columbus, Mont., and was a state wrestling champion at 235 in her senior year. She moved west to study business at Grays Harbor College and joined the Chokers wrestling team, placing second at the National Collegiate Wrestling Association’s national championships in her freshman year.

She has spent this winter as an assistant coach for the Ilwaco girls squad, working with head coach Frank Womack alongside 2020 IHS graduate Serena Kuhn.
