Animal Shelter Report: Hidden gems among our kitties

- Four shy cats
Our shelter is home to some truly special cats who are often overlooked simply because they’re a little shy or prefer to keep their distance. These aren’t the kitties who rush to greet visitors, but don’t let that fool you — our cat cuddlers can tell you, they have so much love to give once they get to know you. With patience, kindness and a little time, these quieter companions can become the most rewarding pets.
Hedi: A quiet observer with a curious heart. Once Hedi feels safe, her playful side shines and she’ll soak up all the head scratches you can give.
Olivia: With her striking golden eyes, Olivia loves finding cozy hideaways to feel secure. But once she trusts you, she’ll roll over to reveal her fluffy white belly and invite you for unlimited belly rubs.
Mochi: This handsome guy with his unique tufted ears adores kittens and playtime. While he’s a little reserved with new people, he’s a constant source of joy to our volunteer cat cuddlers.
Emily: A gentle soul who has been waiting for over a year. Emily loves other cats and kittens and is happiest snuggling with her feline friends. She needs a calm, patient family who will let her relax, explore and shine on her own timeline.
Shy cats often thrive in quiet, loving homes where they can come out of their shells. They’re usually independent, low-maintenance companions who are perfect for someone with a busy lifestyle. The joy of watching them grow more confident and affectionate is one of the most heartwarming experiences a cat parent can have.
If you’re looking for a chill, low-key feline friend who will quietly brighten your days, one of these overlooked sweethearts might be your perfect match. Apply today to meet them at beachpets.com/adopt.
Speaking of kitties, our community food bank is desperately low on cat food. If you have any opened bags your cat decided they didn’t like, we will take it off your hands!
Or, you can purchase from our wish lists and food can be sent directly to the shelter. Visit beachpets.com, “Ways to Give, Wish Lists.” Thank you!
We are open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday by appointment only for adoptions and surrenders. Stray drop-off, spay/neuter vouchers and pet food program are available during open hours.
View our available cats and dogs and submit an online application at our website beachpets.com. An approved adoption application is required before scheduling a meet and greet with your selected animal.
