According to court records, the couple had been broken up, but the alleged victim decided to “give him another chance.” The couple had a two-year-old child together and had not lived together in 10 months.

“She advised that at around [2 a.m.], Tipler’s phone went off, which caused her to wake up, so she checked his phone and saw messages regarding buying drugs from a couple of different people,” investigating Officer Brittany Stigall states in court records.
“[She] advised this made her angry because she does not want Tipler using and definitely not around their child. She advised that she woke up Tipler and then began yelling at him about not being honest with her and that she couldn’t do this anymore, which upset Tipler,” Stigall added.
Tipler reportedly yelled at the woman and attempted to scare her.
“[She] stated she asked Tipler what he was doing, and then Tipler used both of his hands and wrapped them around her throat, which constricted her breathing for approximately ten seconds,” Stigall states in court records. [She] advised she was scared that she was going to die and that Tipler has never done that before.”
According to the woman, she was able to wiggle her face towards his, and once here, she says she saw him “come out of it.” Tipler then reportedly left the room and stated, “I can’t believe I just did that; I’m sorry,” before returning to the room armed with a knife.
“She stated he stood at the edge of the bed for several minutes holding the knife down at his side while saying, ‘You can’t f***ing leave me,’” Stigall states in court records. The woman described the knife as a long chef’s knife.
Later that day, Tipler reportedly contacted the woman to get his belongings, which were inside her apartment. They left the apartment and arrived back at some point.
“[She] advised that she returned to her apartment where Tipler began throwing items out of her vehicle and into the parking lot and breezeway of the apartments,” Stigall states in court records. “[She] advised that Tipler was yelling and screaming and being very loud, and she told him she was going to call the cops.”
“[She] advised that Tipler was yelling that if [she] called the cops, he would go back to prison for the rest of his life,” Stigall added.
According to radio traffic, officers surrounded multiple locations in the Riverdale area looking for Tipler. At one point, an officer located a syringe full of “substance” near the woman’s apartment.
Officers from the Raymond and South Bend Police Departments, along with deputies from the Pacific County Sheriff’s Office, including Deputy Dustin Eaton and his partner K9 Axel, searched the Riverdale area for Tipler — he was not located.
Tipler reportedly also sent the victim Snapchat messages insinuating he planned to take his own life and had made comments to the same effect during the incident.
Tipler was apprehended on Jan. 1 and booked into the jail for domestic violence second-degree assault, domestic violence residential burglary, unlawful imprisonment, interfering with domestic violence reporting, and unlawful display of a weapon.
