PACIFIC COUNTY — Distilled from thousands of photographs taken over the past year, Chinook Observer photographer Luke Whittaker hand-picked a few dozen photos that illustrate the life and times of Pacific County in 2024.
Whittaker, multi-time winner of the statewide Photographer of the Year award by the Washington Newspaper Publishers Association, covers a wide array of subjects, including sports, breaking news, business and features. He has worked at the Observer since May 2016, initially as a staffer for the now discontinued Coast River Business Journal.
“Everyone’s really friendly. You can tell it’s close-knit. People here are genuine, sincere, authentic. I think you find that in small towns,” Whittaker said of Pacific County.
