OCEAN PARK and ILWACO — Bayside Singers, a local singing group, will be presenting their annual Winter Holiday Concerts on Saturday, Dec. 14, and Sunday, Dec. 22.

The Dec. 14 concert will be held at the Ocean Park Lutheran Church on U Street, in Ocean Park, while the Dec. 22 concert will be held at the River City Playhouse in Ilwaco. Both concerts are scheduled for 2 p.m. This is a change from earlier plans and publicity, which stated that the Ilwaco concert would be on Dec. 7. A death in the family of a key performer made it necessary to adjust the date of that concert.

The group’s director, Sue Wasienko, has chosen holiday music from a wide range of genres for the singers to perform. They range from traditional Christmas songs to old-time gospel songs, and from religious to secular ones. In addition, some Hannukah songs have been included. The audience will hear familiar songs that will be surprising because they are different arrangements from those we are used to hearing. Admission to the concerts is by free will donation, and refreshments will be served at intermission. Donations for refreshments are always welcome.

A bake sale will be held in conjunction with the concerts, featuring homemade baked goods of both sweet and savory flavors. Purchases may be made during the intermission and after the conclusion of the concert. The concerts, and associated fundraising activities, are a major source of income for the group.

Additional funding has been provided through small grants from the Washington State Arts Commission in conjunction with the National Endowment for the Arts, and through the South Pacific County Community Foundation.
