Petit leads Fishermen footballers on all-league list

Ilwaco junior defensive end Cooper Petit (77) was a dominant force for the Ilwaco defense all season, where the 6-foot-2, 195-pound junior helped hold the edge while leading the Fishermen to a 4-0 start and holding opponents under 20 points through the first four games. Petit was named to the first team at defensive end, second team as an offensive lineman and an honorable mention as a punter.

ILWACO — Four Ilwaco Fishermen football players were recognized by all-league honors following the conclusion of their season earlier this month, including Cooper Petit, Wade Smith, Corbin Johnson and Robert Sanders.

Among those honored was Ilwaco do-everything junior defensive lineman Cooper Petit (77), who earned a spot on the first-team all-star squad on defense, second team on offense and an honorable mention on special teams.

Petit was a dominant force for the Ilwaco defense all season, where the 6-foot-2, 195-pound junior helped hold the edge while leading the Fishermen to a 4-0 start and holding opponents under 20 points through the first four games. Petit was also named to the second team as an offensive lineman and honorable mention as a punter.

Ilwaco senior linebacker Wade Smith (21) was named to the second team, along with teammate junior running back Corbin Johnson (23) and senior tight end Robert Sanders (82).
