OCEAN PARK — Being a bookworm just got a little easier for Ocean Park Elementary students.

Every student at OPE received a free book last week courtesy of a donation from Eagles Aerie No. 3602. The donation continues a long history of charitable giving to students and school causes from the local organization, especially around the holiday season.

Eagles members delivered the books in-person to classrooms last Thursday, Nov. 14. The books were sorted by reading level for each of grades 3-5 and spanned both fiction and non-fiction, ranging from a Magic School Bus tale to a recounting of the tragedy of the Titanic.

OPE Principal Erin Porro thanked the Eagles for their donation and said the school was “deeply grateful for their support and commitment to fostering a love of reading in our students.”

“This donation aligns perfectly with our new reading program, which has been a tremendous success,” she added. “Students have been enjoying reading daily with the help of our dedicated volunteers. This initiative has truly inspired our young learners and nurtured their enthusiasm for reading.”
