Nov. 4 — An officer made contact with a suspicious Dodge Durango with no plates parked at the Ilwaco library. The officer found a female in the driver’s seat and a male on the passenger side, both were slumped over. There was drug paraphernalia in plain sight. The driver, Rachel M. Herman, 32, of Long Beach, appeared to be under the influence and showed signs of impairment during the standardized field sobriety tests. She was arrested for physical control of a vehicle while under the influence. She had a lot of drugs on her person and there appeared to be more inside the vehicle. The vehicle was sealed as evidence and towed to the LBPD station, pending a search warrant.

Nov. 7 — Danzel R. Best, 73, of Long Beach, was arrested for DUI after an officer was dispatched to the area in front of Dylan’s Cottage Bakery for a male in a white Dodge Ram who hit the concrete planter box and then backed up into the vehicle behind him.

Nov. 9 — An officer was dispatched to a cold burglary in Long Beach after the residence’s owner found wet footprints inside and milk and butter left behind. He believes someone was staying in there. He has since secured the doors and changed the lock code.

Long Beach officers performed a water rescue in the Ilwaco mooring basin after a woman attempted to drown herself. The subject was blue and pale and unresponsive when an officer dived in to get her, but regained consciousness as another officer pulled her out. Medix transported her to the hospital and an officer filled out a protective custody form.
