Oct. 28 — Officers responded to a report of a male subject camping in a shed at a vacant home. Although he had several outstanding warrants, the jail declined to take him and officers left the scene. Eighteen minutes later, the same man, Jacob Stapleton, 28, of Long Beach, was reported urinating on a fence across from the KLEAN rehab building and then walking behind the house. Officers arrested him on 13 warrants after the jail agreed to take him. Drugs and paraphernalia were seized for destruction.
Oct. 29 — Matthew B. Manygoats, 34, from Arizona, was arrested and booked on a charge of fourth-degree assault-domestic violence, and officers disposed of a bag of mushrooms.
A Long Beach resident came to the police station to report theft of his mail from a box on Idaho Avenue South. About a month ago his neighbor saw a male open his mailbox and take his mail. He received mail after that for about two weeks, but for the past two weeks, he received no mail at all. He spoke with the post office, and they told him to report it. An officer suggested he get cameras, but he said he would rather just pay for a PO box. The officer also suggested that he check with his bank to see if any lines of credit were fraudulently opened in his name, since he said he typically gets lot of credit card ads.
Tara L. Martin, 45, of Ocean Park, was pulled over for speeding and was cited for third-degree driving while license suspended and failing to transfer title within 45 days. She was also ticketed for no insurance.
Oct. 31 — A Long Beach resident reported his Jeep Grand Cherokee was stolen. He identified a possible suspect and an officer drove around town, including to the suspect’s address, but was unable to locate the Jeep. It showed back up at the victim’s residence 24 hours later.
Nov. 1 — An Ilwaco witness said he saw someone siphoning gas from a vehicle at the bottom of the hill on Brumbach. The witness didn’t have the non-emergency dispatch number at hand and waited 20 minutes to call and make the report. A responding officer asked him to call 911 in the future. The vehicle owner came and checked it for damage and saw none. He told the officer this has happened before and he no longer keeps much fuel in his truck.
Vandalism and thefts were reported from a construction site on 17th Street SW, where doors and windows were open and some lumber and siding had been taken and bundles dismantled. Also, heaters were stolen and a propane tank from some heavy equipment was missing.
A resident caught a young teenage male trying to break into the lock box at the pickle ball court at Culbertson Park, and ran him off.
Nov. 2 — Police were dispatched to an overdose at Beacon RV Park in Ilwaco. An officer was already in Ilwaco when the call came out. “I arrived and was told the patient was given five doses of Narcan and after [a responder] giving CPR, [he] jumped up, puked, then rode off on his moped.” The officer observed he must have used up at least two of his nine lives on this one.
Nov. 3 — An LBPD officer and two deputies from the Pacific County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a man standing on the corner of Lake and First streets in Ilwaco holding a pistol in his hand while pacing back and forth. Officers arrived and contacted a male holding a pistol-shaped torch lighter. Officers advised him to get a different lighter and not stand there holding it like a gun while he was waiting for his girlfriend.
Christina J. Deconto, 43, of Seaview, was pulled over for expired registration and failure to transfer vehicle title within 45 days, an infraction for expired registration more than two months, and an infraction for operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
Keith E. Pitts, 45, of Raymond, was pulled over for operating a cell phone while driving and was also cited for second-degree criminal trespassing in Ilwaco.
