Letter: Oakes is best choice for PUD

Please vote for Debbie Oakes for a second term as a Public Utility District 2 commissioner.
Commissioners are charged with providing affordable, clean and reliable electrical power to their communities. In a changing production environment, this can be problematic, because not all new modes are or will ever be affordable.
During her first term, among many other action items, Oakes worked on planning for our community’s future power supply, including renewables and new technologies that are coming into production.
Oakes is forward thinking. She advocates for alternative energy sources and technologies that are affordable, safe and reliable. This includes home solar panels. We have solar power panels on our home. It’s an old house and was not built with solar in mind, and yet we offset our power usage by more than half every year. Our local driving is completely electric. We are often asked how much this raises our power bill, and our answer is — about the cost of one gallon of gas per month. Sometimes, it’s two gallons.
We also appreciate having a PUD commissioner who is pro-solar!
Help elect Debbie Oakes to office for another term.
