Letter: Tobin is a smart, hard-working leader

I consider it a privilege to support Dave Tobin for Pacific County commissioner. Dave has held the position for the past (almost) year and has proven to be a leader for all the people. He listens, asks questions, searches for answers and then makes his most informed decision. I worked with Dave for 10 of the years he was administrator at Ilwaco High School. I found him to be kind, thoughtful, humorous and one of the hardest-working principals I had ever worked with.

I am sure we are all aware that funding is never enough to adequately support our kids. Dave was great at being creative with a very tight school budget and became accustomed to having to make choices about the best use of public dollars. His measured concern regarding county finances has already proven his fiscal skills. There are some very heavy hitting budget items the county will have to absorb in 2025 and Dave can help provide the strong leadership that will be needed as budgets are decided.

Dave also has strong ties to the law enforcement community. He comes from a family with several law enforcement officers and was himself a Long Beach city reserve officer for several years. He will always support the need to keep a strong and healthy sheriff’s department.

So as you fill out your ballot this week, please fill in that circle next to David Tobin so he may continue to help guide our county. Please cast your ballot this election year. It is important to remember our ballots are the only absolute right We, the People, really have
