Animal Shelter Report: Ahoy Mateys! Can you spare some loot for the pets?

We are gearing up for the holiday Beach Pets Treasure Hunt online auction and we need items to offer for sale. This year’s auction runs from Nov. 15 at noon to Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. If it seems like the SPCHS is always conducting a fundraiser, it is because we pretty are! We rely on donations, fundraising, and adoption fees to care for the dogs and cats at the shelter.

The Beach Pets online auction is one of our most profitable fundraisers, and we rely on our supporters to donate saleable items and items that will generate the best bids. Examples of some of the types of items that have proved to be good money-raisers at past auctions include handmade and vintage jewelry, original artwork, especially by well known local artists, antiques and vintage items in good condition, and pet supplies. Our top money makers have historically been gift certificates for goods and services, especially for local restaurants, lodging, and entertainment.

For more information on donating items for the auction, visit our website beachpets.com and go to the “Events” section. There you will find our three easy-peasy steps for donating an item or gift certificate. You may also call 360-642-1180 during our open hours at the shelter to speak to a volunteer or staff member. Thank you so much for your support! This is not only a very important fundraiser for us, it is also an enjoyable one!

We are open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday by appointment only for adoptions and surrenders. Stray drop-off, spay/neuter vouchers and pet food program are available during open hours.

View our available cats and dogs and submit an online application at our website beachpets.com. An approved adoption application is required before scheduling a meet and greet with your selected animal.
