- Pets and owners mingle prior to the Blessing of the Animals ceremony at the South Pacific County Humane Society.
Fall is officially here, and that means it’s time for the Blessing of the Animals!
This is a popular annual community event, where we get together to celebrate the bonds we have with our pets. The event will be held in the front parking lot of the shelter on Saturday, Oct. 5, beginning at 1 p.m. All socialized animals are welcome — from dogs and cats to birds and guinea pigs. Dogs on leashes and cats in carriers, please.
The blessing will be courtesy of the Rev. Richard Loop, vicar of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. Reverend Loop will first bless the pets brought by members of the public, and then will bless the shelter pets.
Light refreshments will be served.
