Community Health and Wellness Fair brings services together Saturday

ILWACO — Ocean Beach Hospital and Medical Clinics’ (OBHMC) annual 2024 Community Health & Wellness Fair will showcase the many services that are available locally aimed at supporting and improving the health of the South Pacific County community. The family-friendly event will take place Sept. 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the hospital’s campus, 174 1st Ave. N. in Ilwaco, and is open to the public.

“We at Ocean Beach Hospital and Medical Clinics are here to serve the medical needs of the community as well as to maintain and improve our residents’ well-being,” said Larry Cohen, OBHMC’s interim CEO. “This free event is a great opportunity for local residents to explore what health and wellness services and programs are being offered close to home, while having fun along the way.”
Booths, activities and displays will be set up in the hospital lobby and main corridor and outdoors in the parking area. Masking and social distancing will be required when participants are inside the hospital facility should the masking mandate still be in place. Highlights of the Community Health and Wellness Fair are:
• Free health screenings, including testing for blood type and checking blood sugar levels;

• Free vision screenings by the Peninsula Lions Club;
• Flu shots offered by the Pacific County Department of Health & Human Services, billed to person’s insurance provider upon presenting health insurance card;
• Photo ops with Sparky the Fire Dog, the fire-safety mascot of the Ilwaco Fire Department, and with the Ilwaco ambulance;
• Children’s activities, a cake walk, and raffle drawings.
Ocean Beach Hospital and Medical Clinics’ Radiology/Mammography, Dietary, Laboratory Services, and Wellness and Rehabilitation Center/Physical Therapy will be represented along with 25 more regional health and wellness services:
Coastal Community Action Program, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Cowlitz Family Health, Crisis Support Network, Dylan Jude Harrell Community Center, Golden Sands Assisted Living, Harbors Home Health & Hospice, Ilwaco Fire Department, Inspired Minds Matter, Life Flight Network, Olympic Area Agency on Aging, Pacific County Department of Health & Human Services, Pacific County Emergency Response, Pacific Integrated Martial Arts, Peace of Mind / Al-Anon, Peninsula Lions Club, Peninsula Pharmacies, Peninsula Poverty Response, Rebuilding Pacific County, RiversZen, SAIL (Stay Active and Independent for Life) Program, Timberland Regional Library, United Healthcare, Washington State Department of Labor and Industries, Willapa Behavioral Health & Wellness
“This event and the other programs and classes organized by OBHMC’s Specialty Programs and Community Outreach department demonstrate our commitment to the community’s health,” said Cohen.
