Port of Peninsula audit report coming out Sept. 24

NAHCOTTA — The Washington State Auditor’s Office audit of the Port of Peninsula will be presented in their Exit Conference on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 11 a.m. at the Willapa Bay Interpretative Center at the port. This date, time and location are where port meetings are regularly scheduled, as this is also the regularly scheduled port meeting with the added audit.

It is possible the formal port meeting will be canceled, as in the past when the port’s executive director and commission chairman decided it was not in their best interest to conduct one.

“So don’t be surprised if this happens just prior to the meeting possibly canceled only hours before,” port Commissioner Chuck Mikkola said. “However, the State Auditor’s staff has said they will be there and will [present] the report if only one commissioner is in attendance.” Mikkola said he definitely will attend.

After the meeting, the full report can be read or downloaded from the Washington State Auditor’s website at sao.wa.gov/reports-data/audit-reports. It also will be available in connection to the Observer’s coverage of the meeting and exit conference.
