Aug. 26 — Ocean Beach Hospital reported an assault victim in the ER. An officer responded and spoke with a person who was involved in a fistfight and sustained injuries to his face, including multiple contusions and a laceration above his left eyebrow that required stitches. The person said he was assaulted inside an acquaintance’s apartment in Long Beach by someone he had known for a couple of weeks. They had exchanged words and insults on a couple of occasions. After initially declining to do so, the victim later decided to press charges. The case is under investigation.

Aug. 27 — Responding to a commercial burglary alarm, an officer observed a homeless person camping near the front door of a Long Beach store. The employee opening the building told the officer he was alarmed by the homeless person and was unable to enter the proper code on the alarm panel. The subject told the officer he was from Redmond, Oregon and was just heading to Seattle. He moved along without incident.
The manager of Beacon RV Park said a woman was in the men’s restroom there and when asked to leave she doused him with a large cup of water. The manager filled out trespass/86 forms on the woman and several other individuals due to ongoing drug/vandalism issues.
Officers responded to a report of a vehicle being driven up and down Lake Street in Ilwaco with a male and female yelling at each other. The male subject told officers that nothing physical happened and that they were just arguing because Child Protective Services cancelled their visitation with their kids. Contacted nearby, the female told an officer the same story.

A caller told police he was employed by a real estate company and taking photos of an Ilwaco house when he was threatened by a man who said he was going to go get his shotgun. He didn’t want to press charges but just wanted to make police aware of the situation. An officer contacted the subject who denied making any threats towards the person and said he would shoot down the drone he was using to take pictures. The officer told him that if he was having issues, he needed to contact the police first.
Report at 11:41 p.m. about multiple shots fired in the area of Klahanee Drive SW in Ilwaco. The reporting party said it sounded like it was coming from further up the hill on Klahanee. An additional caller reported the same thing. Officer checked the entire neighborhood as well as Discovery Heights and did not locate anything.
Aug. 28 — A person called Ocean Beach Hospital to ask the for the name of the doctor who was there when he was at OBH and then made some comment about breaking his legs. An officer called and asked him why he was making threats toward the hospital and he said he didn’t and they broke his leg after he told them not to touch it. The officer asked him how they broke his leg and he said they touched it and his femur just broke. When the officer told him that can’t happen, he said, “are you a doctor, pull your head out of your ass,” then hung up. The officer then called the nurse that spoke to him on the phone and she said he came in with a broken leg in 2019 after falling out of his truck.
There was a report in Ilwaco about male and female subjects taking about $400 worth of property from a yard sale. Police have identified the suspects and expect to issue citations.
Seven reports of multiple gunshots in the area of Klahanee Drive starting at 10:51 p.m. were investigated by officers. They responded to an address on Captain Gray Drive and found two intoxicated construction workers were using a Ramset .22 caliber powder-actuated tool while driving nails into concrete deck pilings. The subjects were advised of the Ilwaco noise ordinance and agreed not to be working outside after 8 pm.
Aug. 29 — John E. Smith, 35, of Ocean Park, was cited for third-degree driving while license suspended following a collision in Long Beach between a motorcycle and Prius. The Prius driver was issued an infraction for failing to yield.
Aug. 30 — An Ilwaco caller reported items stolen from her Ilwaco rental units. A person was questioned about the theft and she said she left $100 in the box and that should more than cover what she took. One of the totes said free on it, but she didn’t notice that it said not to take the tote until she got home. The officer told her he was going to check with the owner to see if she actually put money in the box. She did not.
A person reported someone stole his sticks. He was supposed to be at the library but wandered off before the officer’s arrival and the officer was unable to locate him. The officer found his sticks and bag near Ilwaco Park but was unable to locate the owner to tell him.
An Ilwaco caller reported that a subject pushed her and she fell to the ground and scraped her arm. She said she already has a back injury and that the subject knows that. She said if she has an injury she is going to press charges.
Aug. 31 — Kelly R. Crump, 61, of Long Beach, was cited for third-degree driving while license suspended after an officer conducted a traffic stop.
Sept. 1 — An Ilwaco pub patron was refusing to leave. He left before the officer’s arrival but they wanted him trespassed. The officer found him sitting down outside Freedom Market and advised him not to return to the pub. He requested a transport to a Long Beach tavern, “but he appeared intoxicated already so I gave him a courtesy transport to Ocean Beach Boulevard and advised him to stay out of trouble. He thanked me and I cleared.”
