Animal Shelter Report: Respiratory illness interrupts cat/kitten intakes

Published 9:44 am Monday, September 2, 2024

Dear Community,

This is a hard post to write. All who follow our Facebook page will know our shelter and foster homes are beyond full capacity with cats and kittens, and we have a respiratory infection sweeping through our feline population in the shelter, affecting more than half of our current residents.

For the health and safety of the animals in our care, we regretfully cannot accept any cats or kittens until further notice. This means strays, litters of kittens you might find — nothing. If you do find a cat, and you need help with supplies (food, litter, etc.), call us because we can probably help, but we simply cannot take them in.

Once this infection is under control, we plan to host special adoption events to find loving homes for our cats and kittens, which will help us make room for others who need our care.

As always, thank you for your continued support and understanding. This truly breaks our hearts.

We are open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday by appointment only for adoptions and surrenders. Stray drop-off, spay/neuter vouchers and pet food program are available during open hours.

View our available cats and dogs and submit an online application at our website beachpets.com. An approved adoption application is required before scheduling a meet and greet with your selected animal.
