Letter: Observations about Ilwaco’s deaf ear

Published 3:29 pm Monday, August 19, 2024

After reading Debby Moggie’s last letter posted by Richard Rubio I feel compelled to tell the people of Ilwaco about my involvement with Debby.

Even though Debby didn’t live in Ilwaco, she was concerned about the administration there. She was a regular on Zoom on both the city and port of Ilwaco.

I spent many hours with Debby posting Letters to the Editor. She wouldn’t allow me to use names and would rewrite all my Letters to the Editor. Debby didn’t want her name on any of them. One of her best friends sat on the city council.

We had many heated arguments about the city allowing me to present a subject by putting it on the agenda. I explained that the mayor since 2010 has not allowed me to be on the city council or any committees.

The mayor threatened to call the police and remove me from the public city council meeting. Also, the city administrator threatened to remove me from the City Hall. They no longer do that.

The Observer generally only allows one posting a month. I plan to post some of the things that would make the city and the port a better place to live. I know three people who have had enough and moved out of Ilwaco. Ilwaco has run several businesses out of town.
