July 29 — A caller said there were spikes sticking up in the middle of the road on Pioneer Road and said he is lucky he didn’t run over any of them because they could have damaged his tires. An officer checked and they were rubber markers used to mark the center line while doing road work.

Jacob M. Stapleton, 27, unhoused, faces a charge of third-degree malicious mischief after he punched an apartment door and broke a security camera when his mother declined to let him stay with her.
Joshua D. Rentz, 43, of Washougal, was pulled over for defective tail lights and was issued a citation for third-degree driving while license suspended.
July 30 — A subject was taken into protective custody after he pointed a gun (possibly a BB pistol) at his head and said he wanted to kill himself and hurt others.

July 31 — A burglary was reported at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints by a person who may have used a master key, since there was no sign of a break in. A speaker/amplifier and some food were taken, and various documents appeared to have been looked through.
Aug. 1 — Tawne R. Burgess, 55, of Battle Ground, was pulled over for an expired registration and cited for third-degree driving while license suspended.
Aug. 2 — Aisha M. Howard, 28, of Portland, was booked into Pacific County Jail on charges of resisting arrest, second-degree criminal trespass, third-degree assault and a felony warrant out of Multnomah County for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Her arrest resulted from interactions at a Long Beach motel where she refused to remove her car from the parking lot. She left on foot but eventually returned and an officer asked her why she came back when she was already told she was trespassed. She refused to speak to the officer. After being advised of the felony warrant, she took off walking into the middle of Pacific Avenue, then headed west into the dunes south of Chautauqua lodge. Sheriff’s deputies eventually found Howard in the dunes near Discovery Trail. Howard would not speak to aid on scene, so an officer transported her to the hospital for medical clearance, after which she was jailed.
A caller reported two males drinking beer in the Port of Ilwaco parking lot. One of them accidentally hit the caller’s car with a wand he was using to throw golf balls. The caller’s truck wasn’t damaged but police response was requested because the men were drinking and impaired. Officers located their unoccupied vehicle and saw open alcoholic beverage containers in the hatchback of the car, but the subjects couldn’t be located.
Aug. 4 — An officer was flagged down and told there was a guy near Black Lake who was claiming to have been mugged. The subject was found sitting under the covered area and said he was brought down here from Vancouver by a female friend but she left him here and someone took his backpack. He said there wasn’t much in it and some other people were out looking for it. While talking with him his backpack was returned. The officer offered him a ride to Astoria but he turned it down.
