Gifted singer, songwriter, American storyteller and energetic showman Lloyd Jones is the featured musical artist at Oysterville’s Music Vespers this Sunday.

OYSTERVILLE — Called “the master of soulful understatement,” blues guitarist Lloyd Jones will be the featured musician at the Sunday, July 26, 3 p.m. Music Vespers Service.

Based in Portland, Jones has recorded six critically acclaimed albums, toured internationally and racked up dozens of major awards and accolades and, yet, is looking forward to this return to Oysterville. He is well-known on the peninsula for his appearances at Jazz & Oysters and other Water Music Society events over the years.

Leading Sunday’s service will be Steve Kovach (“Pastor Steve”), who will lead the congregational hymn singing to the accompaniment of Ferrell Hornsby on the vintage pump organ. Local storyteller Tucker Wachsmuth will present “The Oysterville Moment” — a five-minute anecdote featuring an occurrence or memory of the Oysterville Historic District.

The Summer Vespers programs are sponsored by the Oysterville Restoration Foundation and are organized by Sue and Bill Svendsen of the Performing Arts Center in Long Beach. All are invited “to come as you are” to this free event and to enjoy an hour of fellowship and music in the historic Oysterville setting.
