OYSTERVILLE — Calling themselves simply “The Peninsula Guitar Trio,” guitarists George Coleman, Jason Sheaux and Ken Emo each bring a unique style and perspective to the group.
Coleman is a skilled finger stylist with a strong understanding of music theory; Sheaux, a talented blues artist, grew up playing rock in its heyday in Southern California; and Emo is a student of classical guitar who grew up performing with family members in church.
The Vespers Service will get underway at 3 p.m. Sunday with a five-minute “Vespers Story” by celebrated Oysterville storyteller Sydney Stevens. Pastor Steve Kovach will then greet the congregation, give a short meditation piece, and lead the congregation in singing a familiar hymn accompanied by Ferrell Hornsby on the historic pump organ. During that time, a collection basket will be passed with the monies being used by the Oysterville Restoration Foundation toward the daily upkeep and maintenance of the church, which is open to the public each day throughout the year.
The remaining 45 minutes of the service will be devoted to the music of the Peninsula Guitar Trio. All are invited to attend free of charge and “to come as you are” to enjoy this 46-year tradition on the Long Beach Peninsula.
