The historic Oysterville Church has long been known for its fine acoustics, not only by congregations and audiences, but also by musicians, storytellers, and spiritual leaders. On Summer Sundays, the annual Music Vespers series celebrates all of these joyful aspects of the church and its participants.

Next Sunday, June 30, folksinger Marian Dicicco will take center stage as featured musician. Dicicco is known for her riveting mix of original compositions and cover renditions, and with sounds ranging from bluesy folk to old-school country. She treats each song as a story with pictures drawn through notes and lyrics.

The Vespers service will open at 3 p.m. with the traditional “Oysterville Moment” — a short story about Old Oysterville as told by Tucker Wachsmuth. Steve Kovach will provide the inspirational message followed by the congregation singing a traditional hymn accompanied by pianist Barbara Bate. The hour-long service is free and open to the public who are encouraged to “come as you are.”
