Animal Shelter Report: Wacky Walter is Pet of the Week

- Walter
Someone forgot to tell this very energetic and playful boy that at a year old, he is technically an adult! He apparently didn’t get the memo!
Walter absolutely loves attention from people, and just melts when anyone stops by his kennel to say hello. Other cats, though, not so much. He and his brother Jesse were found abandoned on a property and brought to the shelter. They were both very friendly with people, but for some reason, were afraid of other cats and too aggressive to allow them to be placed in the free-range playroom.
Jesse found a home, but people-lover Walter is still looking for his forever home and family. He adores the cat cuddlers who stop by to pay attention to him, and soaks up as much loving as possible. He enjoys playing with toys, and gets quite wound up with the circle toys and romps in his kennel like a kitten. Because of his energy level, it would be best if Walter could find an adult home, or one with older children. If you like a cat with a lot of “purrsonality” and character, Walter just might be your man! We don’t know how he would do with dogs, but he is so quirky that he might just get along with a cat friendly dog!
If you are interested in meeting Walter or any of the other shelter pets, go to our website beachpets.com and fill out an application under the “Adopt” section and send it to us electronically. When staff has reviewed your application, you will be contacted to come in and meet the dog or cat of your interest. If you are unsure which pet interests you, just enter “View” in the section calling for a pet’s name.
Shelter Wish List
Kitten season is here, and we would be very grateful to receive donations of Purina Kitten Chow (in the bright yellow bag) to help the tiny tigers thrive. Also, underweight or kittens being weaned or transitioned to solid food do well with pate-type canned food. Poultry type canned food such as chicken or turkey we have found to be easiest on little tummies.
Our dog walkers tell us they are running very low on dog treats that they use to reward and motivate the dogs on their walks. The dogs aren’t walked just for the benefit of getting exercised — this is the prime time the dog walkers use to teach the pups leash manners and basic commands. And, tasty treats go a long way! They tell us they would like donations of treats that can be broken or torn into smaller pieces, like the jerky strips sold at Costco. Also, we are running very low on dog-sized Pill Pockets that we use to disguise medications in and fool the dogs into taking necessary pills and capsules.
Donations can be dropped off at the shelter during open hours Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., or delivered to us via mail order pet suppliers like Chewy or Amazon. Thank you loyal supporters! You rock!
We are open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday by appointment only for adoptions and surrenders. Stray drop-off, spay/neuter vouchers and pet food program are available during open hours.
View our available cats and dogs and submit an online application at our website beachpets.com. An approved adoption application is required before scheduling a meet and greet with your selected animal.
