Large response to armed man report

NAHCOTTA — The Pacific County Sheriff’s Office and Long Beach Police Department responded to a call that a man was armed with a firearm at the Rod Run-Wilson Field on Sandridge Road east of Ocean Park.
The incident unfolded at about 9:15 p.m. on Saturday, June 22.
According to information that came across the radio, a man armed with a firearm was not letting people leave the area and had pointed the firearm towards at least one person. He was inside of a silver Chrysler vehicle.
The call was dispatched to Deputy Lucas Marthaller who was not in the immediate area.
Deputy Piper Rutzer, who is a rookie, per radio traffic was in the area. She was told to get eyes on the situation but to “remain a safe distance away.”
Detective Cory Nacnac responded from the north county area and Officer Eric Cowsert from Long Beach responded to the call.
The first unit was on scene at 9:28 p.m. and found that the suspect had fled the area.
