Jon Jason Pflughaupt

ELMA — Jon Jason Pflughaupt was born on Jan. 9, 1972, and passed away at his home on July 17, 2024.

Jason worked for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife for 25 years, the last 22 years of which was at the Bingham Creek Fish Hatchery, just outside of Elma, Washington.

Jason grew up on the Long Beach Peninsula, where he graduated from Ilwaco High School. He loved to fish and spent a lot of his time fishing the rivers of the Peninsula with his friends and family.

After graduating from high school, Jason was hired by the Fisheries Department and worked in various hatcheries around the state. He eventually ended up at Bingham Creek Hatchery, and got married to Heidi.

He loved his family, and spent most of his time off with family, cooking, barbecuing and sitting by a campfire.

He is survived by his wife, Heidi Pflughaupt; children, Kaleb and Lana Riggs; sister, Marika Muesegades; and brother, Jeff Gillette. He will be missed by his family and friends.
