Letter: It’s ‘our house’ and they weren’t patriots

In the minds of many in the Make America Great Again movement and the Republican Party — including their cult-like leader, Donald J. Trump — those folks who busted into our capital building on Jan. 6, 2021 have somehow metamorphosed from “peaceful protesters” to “patriots” and have now become “warriors.” In fact, according to the former leader of America, those who have been jailed are now “hostages” and may be pardoned if he’s elected again in 2024.

Just in case you missed out on former President Trump’s latest rally in Las Vegas, the whole hour-long speech or so can be viewed on YouTube and you can also read a transcript, which I usually do after a few minutes of listening to the rant. Oh, by the way, once again we are reminded that he somehow managed to ace two difficult cognitive tests. Pretty much same old riff, especially when the teleprompter went on the fritz, prompting a fit from the old man.

I challenge anyone watching this rally speech to seriously consider whether they want another Trump presidency. By the same token, in watching President’s Biden’s speeches, do we seriously think he’s going to be able to govern our country for another four years?

The Biden/Trump debate takes place on June 27 and I gotta tell you, I’m looking forward to one heck of a lot of moans and groans and very few changed votes.

What really ticks me off is that while those “warriors” were forcing their way into the U.S. Capitol, they were shouting, “This is my/our house!” In the meanwhile. those of us sitting at home were watching our house being broken into and couldn’t do a thing about it.
