Time Out for Faith: Is a train wreck headed for your family?

I put a jeopardy question before you. Under the topic Jesus Christ-Jesus taught more about this then heaven and hell? The answer: What is money?
Christ knew what we humans plan for and worry about more then anything else. Money. What does this have to do with your family? It involves what happens to your estate once you and your spouse pass on.
As one of five siblings my parents couldn’t agree on how to handle their family estate amongst the siblings. I could see a train wreck coming towards the family I love. By train wreck I mean I saw two trains (two opposing views about money headed directly toward each other on the same track). I sounded an alarm about this to my folks.
Money is not evil. It’s the love of money over the love of Christ that is so destructive.
Jesus Christ was clear when he said:”You cannot serve God and money —Matthew 6:24” Either the love of money will be our master or you and I can choose to worship God as revealed in Jesus Christ. Money is not evil. It’s the love of money over the love of Christ that is so destructive as described in 1 Timothy 6:10.
You parents need to make the decisions about the family estate now if you haven’t already. If you want to damage if not destroy family relationships then do nothing and leave it up to your children to decide about the estate.
Parents take the time now if you haven’t already to find a consensus about your family estate. None of us know how many days we have on this earth. Contact a lawyer and find out the differences between a will and a family trust. As parents be upfront with your children ahead of your death about your estate preferences.
Avoid a train wreck over money. Live for eternal values that will outlast your earthly days.
We are created by God to love and be loved. Don’t let the temptation to be greedy become more important than the love for family relationships built on integrity and honesty.
