Letter: OBOA staff and administration say thanks

We at the Ocean Beach Options Academy would like to thank our friends in the community for their support through fundraising for our seniors’ sweatshirts.

Each year, OBOA gives each departing graduate a school sweatshirt and a bag of goodies at graduation as a way of showing them how proud we are of their efforts to face all of the challenges and overcome all of the obstacles standing between them and their diplomas. Given the difficult life situations many of these students have faced during their high school years, we consider them to be a resilient and forward-thinking group of young people deserving of just a little bit of extra celebration. Fortunately, many in our community feel the same.

We thank Ocean Beach Hospital and Medical Clinics’ staff for their ‘Adopt A Senior’ fundraising push at the last minute, headed by Dana Clark. They raised a small fortune in a very short window of time! Additionally, we thank the Ham family for their very generous private contribution and the New Life Church for their ongoing commitment and contributions to our program and its students. Finally, we’d like to thank Blue Crab Graphics for processing our sweatshirts with admirable haste!

ARRRGH — Pirates ye be, maties — now and forever!
