OCEAN PARK — Dona L. Billings passed away on Feb. 26, 2024 in Ocean Park, Washington. She was 89 when passed away, 12 days before her 90th birthday.

Dona was one of 12 children — now with only two siblings left, Leslie and Juanita.

Dona met Sam Billings in 1952 and married in Aug. 5, 1953. She had a son when they met and had seven children together. Dad was in the military so their children were born all over the world — her children were born in: Marie (Hawaii), Sam Jr. (California), Dorothy (Philippines), Teresa (Montana), Sharon (Guam), Fred (Massachusetts), Marvin (Texas), Maurice (Washington), and we were later blessed with our ninth sibling, Myra (Washington).

Dona was also lucky with family in tow to live in Germany, Okinawa and several military bases. Thanks to the military, she was able to see the world.

Dona worked as a banquet coordinator but her passion was working with Alzheimer’s and dementia residents for 13 years before retiring. She loved dancing, swimming and traveling.

Dona was preceded in death by her husband Sam in 2012, a son, Maurice (Mo) in 1999, a daughter, Dorothy in 2014, a granddaughter, Donieta in 2016, a grandson, Roman in 1978, and a great-granddaughter, Amanda in 2023. Our Mom and Dad left a legacy of nine children (seven left), 25 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, 27 great-great-grandchildren, and son-in-laws Bob, Bill and Joe and daughter-in-laws Kathy and Donis.

She was interned with her husband Sam on April 15 at Tahoma National Cemetery.

A special “thank you” to all at hospice, especially her bath lady, Tanya. The nurses were so helpful in her last days on earth before she hopped the train that came for her to take her on her journey home. A private memorial is being held on June 8 for family and friends.

She will be greatly missed!!
