SEAVIEW — Fighting someone who is trying to help you usually isn’t advisable, especially when it is an ambulance crew. A man has landed in the Pacific County Jail for allegedly doing just that and has a history of the same conduct.

According to court records, the Washington State Patrol responded to the report of a combative male at Sid’s Market in Seaview. The responding officer, Trooper Kelly Parker, arrived on the scene to find first responders had managed to strap him down to a gurney.
The man has been identified as Shane J. Persinger, 35.
“The aid crew stated he was overdosing,” Parker stated in court records. “I asked the subject, identified later as [Persinger], what he was overdosing on. Persinger stated he was on meth and blues [also known as fentanyl].”

“The aid crew asked if we [law enforcement] would transport Persinger to the hospital, as he had already assaulted one member of the crew … by punching him in the hand,” Parker added.
Parker took Persinger to Ocean Beach Hospital for evaluation and treatment before handing him over to Pacific County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Kyle Pettit. Persinger was booked into the Pacific County Jail for third-degree assault.
He appeared for a preliminary hearing on May 20 and Judge Donald J. Richter set his bail at $20,000. He scheduled his arraignment for May 31.
Persinger has outstanding warrants for malicious mischief and custodial assault in Missouri.
