May 15 — An Ilwaco caller asked for phone contact with an officer regarding a theft from her room. She told the officer she left town on April 28 and arrived home May 15. Her gold and jewelry were missing, valued between $15,000 and $16,000. She suspects someone from a construction company that was supposed to work on her roof was responsible.

A resident of the 400 block of 18th Street SW in Long Beach called to report someone attempted to break into their garage. A lock was broken off one side and someone attempted to pry open the door on the other side. Estimated cost to repair the damage is a few hundred dollars.

May 16 — Spruce Street residents reported vandalism to one of their cars again. The caller alleged her mom’s ex-boyfriend did it. The officer asked her how she knows he did it and she said they had messages from him telling them he was going to do it. “I asked her what she wanted me to do and she said to ask him to leave them alone and stop writing on the cars. [The suspect was located in Long Beach] and he admitted to tagging the cars and said it was because they wouldn’t leave him alone. I asked him to stop and he agreed; I advised him I would tell them to stop messaging him as well.”

Officers responded to a report of “a suspicious bicycle laying up against a house” on Oregon Avenue. Officers checked around the house and it was secure. A person with a key let an officer in and it appeared that someone had been inside. “We found drug paraphernalia. Someone has also been using the toilet. We think they either found the hidden key or they have been accessing the house through a crawl space.” An officer also found a wallet that had been reported missing and made an arrangement to return it to the owner.

May 18 — Jacob M. Stapleton, 26, of Long Beach, was cited for first-degree criminal trespass after a resident at Driftwood Point Apartments reported he was sleeping inside the hallway of the “B” building after having been trespassed from the property last month. He was issued a criminal citation and released, as the jail would not accept him.

May 19 — A citizen reported a male subject beating an Australian shepherd in front of the cash register in a downtown store. The dog was wearing a red “service dog” jacket and acted like it was afraid of the owner. The male was described as 6-foot-3 or 6-foot-4 and had a skull tattoo on his right arm or shoulder.

An unknown juvenile male stole a case of beer from Supermart and left on foot in an unknown direction. An officer checked the area but was unable to locate.
