Column: How’s your weather — outside and inside?

Published 12:18 pm Monday, April 29, 2024

Usually we think of weather as just outside. The outside weather of blue skies, sun, and warm temperatures inspire us. Yet there also is inside weather; weather conditions, so to speak, within your heart, mind and soul

Just as we are inspired by the outside sun, blue skies, and warm temps; we also are inspired by inside weather conditions. Visiting a neighbor, contact with friends with a small group, enjoying a good book or movie — all can contribute to good weather called inner contentment

Just as we have experienced storms on the outside, so too we have stormy weather on the inside. Bad weather called depression and discouragement have all left us feeling down. Having been lied to or betrayed, or maybe going through a legal and or emotional divorce, can all affect us like bad outside weather.

Just as we have experienced storms on the outside, so too we have stormy weather on the inside. Bad weather called depression and discouragement have all left us feeling down.

Outside weather tends to be easier to recognize than the inside weather within people. How many times have we talked with someone and left that conversation feeling that person’s inner life is doing well? Only later do we receive info that that same person we thought was doing well committed suicide.

Just as airline pilots turn to verifiable weather experts for weather reports, so we can turn to an expert on inner weather, namely Jesus Christ. Why Jesus Christ? Because as our creator he so knows us. In the Holy Bible in the Book of Mark, verse 34 through verse 41, we read of him calming an outer storm. Read this account and know his inner transforming peace, which can also apply towards our inner storms. If you are hurting inwardly, receive His transforming peace.

If you are hurting, call any of the 18 peninsula churches and ask to speak with the pastor. Receive the spiritual advice which helps you choose the healing option you think is best for your circumstance before it may be too late.

So enjoy your outside and inside weather. Have a blessed day!
