Beautiful and very sweet are the best words to describe this five-year-old girl. Hazelnut has a coat pattern called “torbie” which is a pattern that exhibits a mixture of two coat patterns — tortoiseshell and tabby. Tortoiseshell coat patterns are in the calico variety, and feature tri-colored coats that resemble the coat of a tortoise, and tabby refers to a striped pattern. So, torbies have coat patterns that are a wonderful patchwork of tortie and tabby. These are coat patterns that occur in several breeds of cats and do not refer to a specific breed.

Hazelnut loves people and attention. When visitors come into the free-range playroom where she resides, she rushes up to them to get pets. She gets along well with the other kitties in the room, and would be a good companion for another kitty-friendly cat. Dogs don’t seem to bother her. She would be a delightful companion! Spring cleaning? We need your good used items for our Grrrrage Sale

Every year, we participate in the World’s Longest Garage Sale over Memorial Day weekend,a peninsula-wide event that is an important fundraiser for the shelter. This year, our sale will take place on Friday, May 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, May 25 from 8:30am to 4:00pm, and Sunday, May 26 from 9 a.m. to noon. Sunday is $5 bag day, where everything you can fit in a bag (provided) is only $5!

We need your donations of saleable items to make this event a success! Donations can be dropped at the shelter on all Fridays and Saturdays in May during shelter open hours 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The shelter is located at 330 2nd St. NE in Long Beach. If you are unable to drop off items during these days/times contact the shelter at 360-642-1180 to make special arrangements.
