Glenn Morris

NASELLE — Glenn Palmer Morris died on April 7, 2024 of double pneumonia.

Glenn was born in Liberty, Alabama, July 17, 1934, to William and Agnes (Palmer) Morris. He grew up working on the family cotton farm and attended Pennington High school. Glenn joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Naselle, Washington at the radar base when he met his future wife Kathleen Pakenen. They were married June 15, 1957. They had 2 children, Jeff, followed by Greg.

Glenn had numerous jobs over the years working in steel mills, truck driving, oil delivery driver, car mechanic, plumber, longshoreman, and as a policeman in Birmingham, Alabama. He and Kathleen eventually moved to Portland where he became a firefighter and worked until he retired. After he retired, he drove tour buses around the northwest part time for Evergreen Stage Lines. He enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, and snow skiing. While raising his family, they would camp and travel to numerous destinations including visiting his family in Alabama where he installed his parent’s first indoor plumbing. He and Kathleen extensively traveled the U.S. in their various campers and motorhomes.He also devoted much of his time to Luther Memorial Church and their charity services. Glenn also liked playing jokes on people whether it was a gorilla outfit for halloween or just little pranks just to make people laugh.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Kathleen of Portland; sons Jeff and Greg; brother Bill of Opelika, Alabama; and brother Ken of Apopka, Florida.

A memorial will be held at Cherrywood Village Chapel, 1417 SE 107th Ave, Portland, on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 3 p.m. A graveside ceremony will be held at the Peaceful Hill Cemetery (S Valley Rd, Naselle) on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at 3 p.m.
