Sports Roundup: ‘Untouchable’ Dille delivers third straight perfect game

Ilwaco softballThe Ilwaco girls softball team earned their sixth straight win after mercy-rule victories over Wahkiakum and Chief Leschi last week, improving to 8-4 overall on the season.
The Lady Fishermen, currently 2-1 in league play, are in fourth place in a deeply-competitive 2B Pacific League race, trailing Forks (3-0), Ocosta (2-0) and Pe-Ell/Willapa Valley (3-1).
Ilwaco pitcher Megan Dille continued her dominance on the mound in a 17-0 mercy-rule shutout victory over Chief Leschi, where the junior ace threw a perfect game over three innings, striking out nine batters while not allowing a single baserunner.
It was the third perfect game in a row for Dille, who has simply overpowered her opponents, primarily with her fastball.
“She’s been untouchable,” summed head coach A.J. Smith.
“To have three perfect games (against Chief Leschi, Taholah and Wahkiakum) in a row is absolutely amazing. And you couldn’t ask for a better student athlete, she’s just a great kid.”
Ilwaco is currently ranked 19th in the latest WIAA 2B state rankings among 47 teams.

Naselle baseballThe Naselle baseball team collected their fifth straight victory last week, improving to 10-2 overall on the season.
The Comets had a busy week of baseball, topping three teams in dominant fashion, including convincing wins over Ocosta (14-4), Taholah (17-0) and Oakville (10-1), boosting the team’s 1B Coastal League record to 4-1, only trailing first-place Mossyrock.
Following the string of convincing victories, the Comets have climbed to fourth in the WIAA 1B state rankings among 41 teams.
Up next: Naselle (10-2) will host Mossyrock in a key league matchup on Thursday, April 25.
Pe Ell/Willapa Valley baseballThe Pe Ell/Willapa Valley baseball team won three of four games last week, improving to 13-3 overall on the season.
The Titans, currently in third place in the 2B Pacific League standings at 5-1, are ranked 12th in the WIAA 2B state rankings among 48 teams.
Up next: The Titans (13-3) will travel to take on Ilwaco (11-1) on Wednesday, April 24.
Pe Ell/Willapa Valley softballThe Pe Ell/Willapa Valley softball team won two of three games last week, climbing to 12-4 overall on the season.
The Titans, currently in third place in the competitive 2B Pacific League, are ranked ninth in the WIAA 2B state rankings among 47 teams.
Up next: The Titans (12-4) will travel to take on Ilwaco (7-3) Friday, April 26.
Naselle softballThe Naselle softball team split their games last week, bringing their season record to 3-5 overall.
The Comets earned their most decisive victory of the season after beating Taholah 27-1 before being outscored 17-5 by Ocosta last week.

Raymond/South Bend boys soccerThe Raymond/South Bend boys soccer team improved to 10-2 overall on the season after beating Montesano (4-3) and Eatonville (4-2) last week.
The Ravens rose to 15th in the WIAA 1A state rankings among 76 teams following the wins.
