NORTH HEAD — Sue Klinker of Ocean Park came upon a massive float while walking April 1 on the north end of Benson Beach.

Nearly as tall as the people who encountered it, the huge sphere has been bobbing about in the ocean for a long time, judging by the sea life living on it.

It’s unknown what such a large flotation device is used for; suspending widely decried long-line ocean fishing nets is one possibility.

Whatever it is, Klinker observed, “Very cool!”
