Letter: Both bad, but one far worse

To tell the truth I really can’t stand listening to either one of the old farts running for president speak. That’s why I prefer to read the transcripts of their speeches later on. I do think it’s important, no matter who is president at the time to remember what they promised and what they were actually able to deliver on while in office.

I’m almost finished reading “Oath and Honor” by Liz Cheney and suggest that anyone who thinks the 2020 presidential election was stolen read it. Just remember that over a hundred law enforcement personnel were injured on Jan. 6, 2021 by the “peaceful folks” exhorted by our former president to march and protest at the U.S. Capitol Building — my house, your house, their house.

Here’s my question… would those folks have busted through windows and doors, assaulted law enforcement, brandished confederate flags in the halls of the Capitol if Donald J. Trump hadn’t decided to hold an election protest rally on the same day that the electoral votes were counted and then announced by Vice President Mike Pence? In case you forget, a hanging gallows had been erected outside the Capitol Building for the vice president by those same “peaceful” folks.

I would dearly love to see the cost of gas and groceries come down, but if the price I have to endure in 2025 and beyond is listening to the Trumpster blow his trumpet about his brand while whining and cry babying about a stolen election, I will once again hold my nose on Nov. 5, 2024 and vote for our current president, Joseph R. Biden.

My only hope is that somehow, by some unlikely miracle, a third party candidate will enter the picture, then capture enough votes so that we can finally relieve ourselves of the gaseous exhalations of both Biden and Trump.
