Fundraising takes place throughout the school year, although exact details of the destination and planned activities remain closely guarded secrets. The target is $25,000. Tiffany Turner, whose son Beckett is a senior, is leading the 2024 campaign.
Poinsettias were sold at Christmas time. Now, Turner and her committee are forging ahead with a firewood raffle. A cord will be raffled March 15. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20, available at the Diamond Espresso shop at 1105 Pacific Ave. S. in Long Beach.
A second fundraiser features hanging baskets. Orders must be received by April 1. The order process is online at tinyurl.com/IHS-basket-fundraiser.
The baskets are $40 each, or $37 each for two or more. They feature mixed flowers or entirely of calibrachoa, vibrant bell-shaped flowers.
Flowers may be picked up at the Long Beach Fire Station in the first week of May; further details will be announced.
Fundraising in April and May will include Flamingo Flocking, where flocks of plastic flamingoes appear on people’s lawns. Organizers will announce details later
