LONGVIEW — On Tuesdays at noon WSU Master Gardeners present weekly free online programs. In addition, for those able to travel to Longview, there are occasional in-depth in-person classes. The following classes are online unless otherwise noted.
March 5: Growing Succulents — Succulent plants have the magical ability to add a touch of beauty to both your indoor and outdoor spaces. Join WSU Master Gardener Heidi Hubler as she dives into the world of successfully growing succulents. In this engaging session, she’ll cover the varieties you can cultivate, share tips on their care, and help you navigate the potential pitfalls along the way.
March 12: Growing Blueberries — Are you eager to grow delicious blueberries this year but have some burning questions? Join us for a session with WSU Master Gardener Marsha Tisdale, where she’ll be your guide to mastering blueberry cultivation. Discover the best varieties suited for our region, get insights on planting techniques, and learn the secrets to caring for your blueberry bushes for a fruitful harvest!
Tuesday, March 12, 6 p.m. in person: Tips for Constructing a Greenhouse — Join WSU for a fascinating session with Master Gardener Gene McConnell, who will unravel the secrets of setting up your own hobbyist greenhouse. Discover essential tips on getting started, selecting the right size, managing temperature, and lighting, and ensuring proper ventilation. McConnell will also talk about yard placement and explore alternative options to traditional greenhouses. If you’re a gardening enthusiast with a greenhouse or contemplating getting one, don’t miss out on this informative program tailored just for you.
Enrollment is limited to 35 people. The cost is $5. All attendees must pre-register and pay online: home-greenhouse-2024.cheddarup.com. WSU cannot accept checks or cash at the workshop. The workshop is sponsored by Washington State University Extension Master Gardeners.
March 19: Growing Raspberries — Ready to dive into raspberry gardening this year but need some guidance? Join us for an exciting session with WSU Master Gardener Alice Slusher as she unveils the secrets to thriving raspberry cultivation. March 26: Growing Vegetables, where to start — Get ready to supercharge your vegetable garden with WSU Master Gardener Sara Clark.
