Animal Shelter Report: Best buddies Thomas and Emily are Pets of the week

Thomas

Often, we see certain dogs and cats linger for a long time at the shelter, and it makes us sad. We sometimes wonder how the left behind pets are feeling as they go day after day watching their fellow shelter residents go to their forever homes while they remain behind. One way we feel the cats who are left behind seem to cope is by forming friendships with other kitties in the free-range rooms. These alliances can be quite strong, and clearly help make the kitties’ lives better.

Such is the case of six-month-old Thomas and his petite BFF Emily, a darling dilute calico girl. When Thomas first came to the shelter as a tiny kitten, there was concern he may be blind, so he was sent into foster care for evaluation and TLC. Happily, he is not blind, but was found to be an active, athletic kitten who loves his toys and streaking around the room, bouncing off the cat trees. Thomas doesn’t show well in the playroom at times, but his foster mom says that when he is in a home situation, he is a wonderfully affectionate lap cat. He has become very bonded to little Emily, and the two of them are often seen comforting each other as they cuddle together in their favorite kitty bed.

Emily is a pretty one-year-old dilute calico girl who has shown her playful and gentle side since arriving at the shelter. One thing she absolutely loves is snuggling with other kitties, and Thomas is her main snuggle buddy! They would love to go to a home together, and have been fully sponsored by one of our volunteers in hopes that this will happen for them. Do you have room in your heart for this sweet young kitty couple? They have already spent enough of their young lives’ in the shelter, and it is time that they get a chance at more complete lives. Thank you for caring!
