Letter: State should pay school costs

The usual suspects are already pouring on the upcoming school levies. They neglect to inform the taxpayers that the state is lawfully mandated to fund all public schools in Washington at 100% of the agreed-upon state average. Also the legislature just passed a new multi-billion dollar added funding expenditure to fund schools building upgrades, teachers salaries, advanced classes such as science labs, etc.

And finally be advised that one of those levies called the lab and personnel levy is used to add thousands of dollars to teachers’ salaries in addition to the state-funded levels. This is due to the teachers union and the school board secretly adding those dollars and calling it laboratory funding.

The salaries for Ocean Beach School District teachers average over $100,000, which is what teachers in Seattle and large cities are paid. Property tax payers here in Pacific County need to call the Assessor’s Office for an exact breakdown of these levies.

They are using the old do-it-for-the-kids routine.
