It’s difficult to figure out why anyone would improvise an explosive object and leave it in the vicinity of Ilwaco’s wastewater processing plant at the port, as happened Sunday.
On the long menu of stupid and destructive behaviors encountered by local law enforcement, these little bombs are certainly among the most disturbing.
This Sunday’s incident was upsetting to nearby residents and left some feeling inadequately informed. Not everyone listens to a police scanner or keeps up on the sheriff’s informative Facebook posts, or our website and Facebook. It’s important to note that the device’s location away from any residences meant that it was not a danger to civilians, but we’re sure lessons were learned.
