2B football: Fishermen seniors lead 55-0 shutout over North Beach

ILWACO — The seniors left their stamp.

The Ilwaco football team ran over North Beach 55-0 last Friday on senior night, improving to 4-4 on the season while notching their second consecutive win.
The Fishermen raced out to a 14-0 first-quarter lead behind big touchdown runs from senior backs Boston Caron and Kaemon Sawa, from 30 and 40 yards, respectively — the start of a nearly 400-yard rushing onslaught by the Fishermen.
Caron added two more touchdowns, part of a game-high 147 yards rushing, in the second quarter as Ilwaco took a 35-0 lead heading into the half.

Ilwaco senior fullback Cannon Johnson, senior quarterback Ethan Hopkins and sophomore running back Dylan Pelas accounted for the final touchdowns as the game finished under a running clock.
Ilwaco finished with 390 yards rushing, led by Caron (10 carries for 147 yards), Sawa (2-80) and Johnson (6-60), while holding the Hyaks to less than 150 yards total.
Eight Ilwaco seniors played their final regular-season home game, including Derek Cutting (2), Boston Caron (5), Ethan Hopkins (7), Xavier Smith (14), Kaemon Sawa (15), Cannon Johnson (44), Andrew Gaerlan (78) and Sam Needham (83).
Up next: Ilwaco (4-4) will next travel to face Toutle Lake (3-5) Thursday, Oct. 26.
