How to help Chevy go hog wild: Treats’ sought — it’s snout or never

Chevy is a hungry pig, eager for some nourishing scraps of fruit and vegetables, to add to her other feed and help as she recovers from her recent pregnancy.

NASELLE — Here’s a chance to help a pig.

Chevy just produced a litter of piglets and, like many new moms, is in need of a snack.

She is asking for people to swine up and help.

Anyone close to Naselle is asked to drop off fruit or vegetable scraps at the gate at 1027 State Route 4.

Chevy had four oinks, though sadly one did not survive.

During the latter stages of her pregnancy, owner Mariesa Hess asked for help on the online Naselle trading website. She made clear her pig was doing OK — just eager for treats.

“She is very well taken care of and fed grain and hay daily,” said Hess, who operates the Gypsey Homestead Trading Post. “I only asked for fruit and veggie scraps for a treat.”

Hess has two female and two male pigs. Chevy’s neighbor, Bonnie, is also expecting a happy porcine event.

“Treats would be awesome. I just want to be able to spoil them with scraps people toss in the garbage anyway,” Hess added. “It takes fuel to produce piglets!”

So hurry to Naselle. But please don’t run any slop signs.
