Electric bicycles should not be allowed on the Discovery Trail.

Electric bikes go faster than a regular bicycle and they seem to bring out the Evel Knievel in their riders. I walk on the Discovery Trail every week and it’s seldom that I don’t encounter an electric bike going too fast. The other day two guys came quietly zooming up to me from behind on the trail and recklessly passed while one of them was leaning back with his feet on the handle bars.

Electric bikes have a lot of mass. They present a danger to children, dogs on a leash (dogs off leash are fodder for another letter), and old duffers like me.
